A cocktail with a certain structural
similarity to a Manhattan and also to the ubiquitous Martini. The drink is
named for the Scottish folk hero Robert Roy MacGregor. The Manhattan is made with rye whiskey and sweet vermouth, while the Rob Roy is made with Scotch whisky and sweet vermouth. Variants of the drink include the Dry Rob Roy, which is made with dry vermouth and the Perfect Rob Roy, which is made with equal parts sweet and dry vermouth. Many versions of the Rob Roy also include Angostura Bitters. Adding Drambuie to a Rob Roy makes it a Bobbie Burns. Scotch whisky
Stirred over ice, strained into a chilled glass, garnished, and served straight up.
